10 Significant Factors to Consider Before Buying a New Smartphone

Nowadays, there is more than one smartphone available out there! And you might have noticed that some features on one phone outweigh others. As a result, you may find it difficult to know which smartphone is the best for you.

Here are 10 significant factors to consider before purchasing your new smartphone.

1. MANUFACTURER'S REPUTATION

Want to purchase a new smartphone? Well, before taking out that money from your wallet, have an ample time to research a bit more on the manufacturer behind the phone. Some trusted companies offering quality smartphones include Apple, Samsung, Nokia, LG and a lot more. Knowing more about the phone's manufacturer plays an impact on the phone you want to buy in the future.

2. PRICE OVER PERFORMANCE

Another significant factor to consider before buying a new phone most especially if you have limited budget is the price per se. Fortunately, you don't need to spend as much as there are many smartphones out there being offered in a cheaper price but render excellent performance. You just have to choose wisely.

3. OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION

An operating system is the software that allows our mobile devices to run applications and other programs. There are only two operating system to choose from - Android or iOS. Most smartphone manufacturers function on the Android OS. If you go for iOs, then you are opting for an Apple iPhone. Also, these OS vary from version to version. So, before buying a new one, opt to the latest OS version available.

4. PROCESSOR

The performance of a device largely depends on its processor. Similarly, the processor's performance depends on OS, User Interface, bloatware, and many more. Smartphones with higher processing speed are much faster. If you are engaging to lots of photo/video editing, stream videos or play online games, then opt for a faster processor like Qualcomm and Mediatek.

5. MEMORY (RAM/ROM)

Phones comprise of two kinds of memory- Random Access Memory (RAM) and Read Only Memory (ROM). RAM, along with  processor implies the speed and ease of operation of the phone. ROM is usually called as internal storage. It is where we store the OS, apps, videos, photos and a lot more. Take note that phones with higher RAM will be faster and higher ROM will have more storage.

6. BATTERY LIFE

Probably, you want a phone that will last a full day. And mind you, battery usage depends on the way you utilize your phone. If you are a heavy user who work on multiple apps, stream videos and play online games, then go for a smartphone with atleast 3,500 mAh battery or above. If you're an average user, then a 3,000mAh battery would be enough for a full day. Consider also a phone with fast charging support.

7. CAMERA QUALITY

Nowadays, smartphones are becoming more like a digital camera. And indeed, smartphone manufacturers are gearing up more on their brand's camera quality by offering more megapixels. Don't let this fool you. A camera with more megapixels doesn't mean better images. A good quality photo is a result of the function of factors like ISO levels, aperture, pixel size, autofocus and more. A skilled photographer might go on a camera with 12 or 16MP sensor under f/2.0 aperture. Wheras, an ordinary shooter may go with an 8MP or 12MP camera with f/2.0 to f/2.2 aperture.

8. BUILD QUALITY

Smartphone's durability greatly depends on its build quality. There are two types of builds-metal and plastic. However, there are some phones that come with glass-covered panels too, but are very limited. It's more recommended to go for a metal or plastic built handset if you are prone to dropping your smartphone.

9. DISPLAY

The first thing you would notice on your phone is its size and resolution. If you are a regular user and utilizes your smartphone for chatting, browsing social media apps, and checking emails, then a 5-inch to 5.5-inch HD or full-HD display handset is ideal for you. On the other hand, if you often edit photos or videos, stream or download videos, then a 5.5-inch to 6-inch full-HD or QHD resolution is good enough for you.

10. SECURITY FEATURES

Smartphone nowadays have extra security features in them, such as fingerprint sensor and even iris sensors. These features not just function as phone's locker/unlocker but serve as a password to access documents, files, or apps. So, it's advisable to purchase a smartphone having these extra security features since most of us have personal files on our mobile devices.
